Gem Russet (A8495-1) is a medium to late maturing, high yielding selection with a high percentage of #1's and a long tuber type and medium to light russet skin. It will be useful in the fresh and processed markets. It has a high specific gravity, excellent fry color from 45 degree storage and will fry acceptably following 40 degree storage. Long term storage capability looks good. It has susceptibility to PVY.
